Buckling of a double sector thin elastic plate: Analytical solution

Analytical solutions for elastic buckling and post-buckling geometries are scarce. The present work presents such a solution sample geometry, initially planar, which buckles into complex 3D shape under tensile load. assumptions that the thickness is small, so flexural stiffness low compared to in-plane strain stiffness, hence can be considered inextensible. initial geometry composed of two disk angular sectors sharing common edge. Under loading, radial edges each sector tend align half turns regular cone sectors. As load increases, angle progressively decreases, but same generic form holds extension all along direction. Such may useful validating numerical simulation tools, or stereo-vision measurement procedures.
